Madelyn's Story

Pelvic floor issues are fairly common, affecting nearly a quarter of all U.S. women. To meet the growing need for this type of care, our Women’s Health Institute established the Summa Health Pelvic Program in late 2020. The program consists of a comprehensive multi-disciplinary care team, which includes both surgical and nonsurgical specialties, to assist with the diagnosis and treatment of chronic pelvic pain. 

In 2021, our pelvic health program experienced a significant increase in volume. One of its patients, Madelyn, shares how her year-long struggle with severe pelvic pain finally ended with the help of Megan Cesta, M.D., and the Summa Health pelvic health team.
