A Race Against Time
Summa Health Heart and Vascular Institute
George Sukara, a healthy 70-year-old, came to Summa Health in full
cardiac arrest after collapsing while running on the Towpath Trail.
Fortunately, a bystander administered CPR and arriving police applied
an AED while waiting for EMS. Upon George’s arrival at Summa Health,
Dr. Justin Dunn and his cardiac team quickly opened the blocked artery
with a stent and initiated therapeutic hypothermia protocol.
Because of the fast action taken by so many, George has a made
a complete cardiac and neurologic recovery. In fact, he’s back to
running again.
