2019 Community Benefit

For more than 125 years, Summa Health’s mission has been to improve the health of our community. We have always felt a special imperative to do everything we can for the people we call not just our patients, but our neighbors. And this call to serve has never been stronger… or more important. As the issues faced by society become increasingly complex, we remain committed to advancing the health of this community, and by giving back as much as the community has given us.

Summa Health’s 2019 Community Benefit Report highlights our commitment to overcoming social determinants of health in the communities we serve. We’ve created powerful partnerships that have led to increased efficiencies and, most importantly, greater community change.

Together with our partners we:

• Address the most significant health needs of the community
• Improve access to health services
• Support chronic disease management through education
• Reduce health disparities

Our work continues to evolve as the needs of the community evolve. In 2019, Summa Health contributed more than $138 million in community benefit. Although we report a specific dollar amount, the true impact of our work is immeasurable. We remain committed to investing in our community now and in the future and continue to strive to be recognized as one of the finest healthcare organizations in the nation.
